CAM Sugar presents the live-to-picture concert of Federico Fellini’s 8½, a special project inaugurating Fotogrammi, the new series launched by the Filarmonica della Scala and dedicated to the great masterpieces of film history. Developed in collaboration with the Filarmonica della Scala and Cineteca di Bologna/Mediaset – RTI, the project represents a significant effort to preserve and celebrate Italy’s musical and cinematic heritage, reflecting CAM Sugar’s long-standing commitment to the conservation, restoration, and rediscovery of some of the most important film scores of the twentieth century.

At the heart of the initiative lies the recovery and study of original materials of extraordinary historical value, including Nino Rota’s handwritten score and the original recording masters, made accessible thanks in part to the support of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini. Through an innovative technological process that enabled the separation of the music from the film’s original dialogue track, audiences will experience, for the very first time, a unique event: the live performance of the complete 8½ score alongside the film’s full screening.

On the stage of Teatro alla Scala, the Filarmonica della Scala, conducted by Timothy Brock—one of the world’s leading specialists in film music performance—will bring to life one of the most iconic scores in cinema history, revealing the full richness of its artistic and sonic legacy.
