“Ultrascore” is the term coined by Chassol to describe his unique approach to composition and musical performance: hybrid works in which cinematic atmospheres, field recordings, spoken word, images and harmonies merge into immersive audiovisual experiences through editing, layering and sampling. In this special workshop for SLAM Festival, the French pianist, composer and filmmaker guides us through his creative universe, where conventional notions of time dissolve and creative impulses gradually evolve into fully realised musical visions.
